The Vertical Intensive Care Unit by Tecnomed is a specialized, floor-to-ceiling solution designed for intensive care environments where wall-mounted units are either impractical or architecturally unavailable. This unit is ideal for use in open-space ICU areas, neonatal and pediatric intensive care zones, and incubator-focused setups where quick accessibility and mobility are essential.
Unlike traditional horizontal bed head units, the vertical structure allows for strategic utilization of vertical room space, enabling medical staff to access gas modules, power sockets, and equipment mounts without obstructing lateral movement or patient interaction. The colon-style vertical unit has become increasingly popular in modern hospitals due to its minimal space consumption, streamlined installation, and robust functionality.
Manufactured in full compliance with EN 11197 medical equipment standards, the Vertical Intensive Care Unit is engineered for both safety and adaptability. The unit supports essential medical gases such as oxygen, vacuum, air, and optional gas modules, while also integrating electrical sockets, nurse call buttons, and lighting components. All systems are housed in a sturdy central column that runs from floor to ceiling, ensuring maximum accessibility while maintaining structural simplicity.
One of the core advantages of the Vertical ICU unit is its symmetrical design, which features medical hanger rails on both the right and left sides. These rails enable the mounting of critical accessories such as vacuum regulators, vacuum jars, suction devices, infusion pumps, monitor holders, and storage baskets. This bilateral mounting capability enhances workflow efficiency, especially in neonatal and pediatric ICUs, where patient needs and staff actions must be dynamically balanced.
The unit’s space-saving architecture is particularly advantageous in care areas that house multiple beds or incubators. By using vertical space rather than wall length, the unit ensures that essential services are available at bedside without cluttering the surroundings. Additionally, this design reduces construction dependency, as it does not require a dedicated support wall — a common limitation in modular hospital designs or temporary care installations.
Customizability is another strong point of Tecnomed’s vertical system. Hospitals can specify the number and type of medical gas outlets, power sockets, lighting preferences, and accessory brackets. Finishing options are also available to align with the aesthetic standards of the healthcare facility, including color schemes and antimicrobial coating finishes.
Operational efficiency is further enhanced by the unit’s built-in cable management system, which keeps electrical wiring and gas tubing organized and protected. This not only minimizes maintenance downtime but also reduces the risk of cross-contamination and equipment malfunction — two critical concerns in high-acuity care areas.
In incubator-intensive departments, such as NICUs (Neonatal Intensive Care Units), the Vertical Intensive Care Unit delivers superior flexibility. Its centralized configuration allows equipment to be positioned at various vertical heights to match caregiver routines and patient conditions. Medical personnel can adjust the placement of tools and devices without interrupting the care process or repositioning other hardware, leading to faster response times and reduced operational friction.
Moreover, the unit is easy to install and relocate. Unlike conventional systems that require dismantling during modification or transfer, the Vertical Intensive Care Unit by Tecnomed can be adjusted in-place. Its modular segments are engineered for on-site calibration, meaning adjustments in height or layout can be performed without removing the core unit from its anchor points.

Tecnomed vertical type intensive care units consist of galvanized sheets or aluminum body. The front of the unit is designed for medical gas sockets. There are grounding pins and electrical sockets on the back. It adds warmth to intensive care services with its front wooden appearance. Intensive care units are produced in the most useful way for the intervention of the patient under care.
It was built to feed medical devices with electricity and medical gas in inpatient intensive care units. Intensive care unit covers are painted with antibacterial paint. Its edges and corners are radiused. In this way, it prevents the risks of accidents that the patient or health care workers may experience during the sudden intervention.
